Nature Reserve Golubac Fortress

Golubac Fortress Nature Reserve is located at the very entrance to the Iron Gate gorge. This is also the entry point into Djerdap National Park. The Reserve is valuable as a habitat to very rare, endemic and relict plant communities and species such as low and tall coppice of lilac, hornbeam and ash, fragments of thermophilic oak woods and beech woods with walnut. The Reserve spreads over an area of 23.04 ha, located on the very slopes above and around Golubac Fortress – the cultural asset of exceptional importance.
